I used to be good at understanding the loomis method but out of no where I've been struggling.

I find that treating the sphere just as a loose starting point is the best, I almost always find myself having to go outside of the boundaries and basically sculpt the features on, shaving pieces off or adding them as needed, adjusting until they all work together and look believable. It wasn’t until I started doing that that I became better at drawing faces.
What I often find is that once you have the sphere and lines running through it, the features don’t actually fit very well, they usually end up too compressed.

Comic artists and animators are singlehandedly innovating faster ways to draw people in a tight deadline

Fun fact: Place the circle of the side plane between the hairline line and the bottom-of-nose line. Congratulations, no guessing where it is. You made it too big here.

The more I've developed as an artist over the years, the more I've gotten frustrated with the Loomis method and other methods that try to break down form structurally.

Honestly, I think that Loomis's method over-complicates the process. It good for practice but I don't use it anymore when making an actual painting.

"The distances from the hairline to the brow ridge to the bottom of the nose to the bottom of the chin are all the exact same"
HA!
HAHAHAHA! My receding hairline says otherwise.

Looks so hard to do... since it requires Both Anatomy Skills to be High and Perspective to be High also..
but i guess it is one of the Faster methods out there...
if you are Kind of use to drawing Heads...

Hold on. I think youre incorrect. You shouldn't need to guess where the side plains are. Your previous videos have the answer ever if i dont fully see it yet.

Something about the the plains on a box and perspective. We have the center line. The same way you can use a X in perspective to find a center line cant we use the center lines and X to find the plain edge. The circle remains the same and the center line changes within the circle. An X perpendicular to the center lines while still passing through the same center point would intersect the circle at the edge of the new plain.

Does that make sense or am i missing something still?

😮there is a comment from a year ago. How old is this video
