Hey Ralph this was so interesting and helpful, us and our kids have always had these bags of all kinds but always called all of them rucksacks ! In fact I now know that me and hubby Alf at this moment don't just have 6 rucksacks each, we have a mixture of these for all different occasions ! Good to know : ) ~ Anna 👍

This was a great description! Interesting to know the origins of the terms. Everything to me usually just gets called a backpack but it might be helpful sometimes to help distinguish the different types.

This was a cracking video before to mentioned that the German term for backpack ie rucksack was( I had a vague idea it was used in Europe as opposed to UK US or Australia ect. )
