Blockchain for Healthcare: Open Source Medicines as Public Goods

This workshop featured Savva Kerdemelidis, the CEO of Public Good Pharma and Crowd Funded Cures. @publicgoodphrma is a pioneering biotech platform committed to the development of cost-effective therapies. Meanwhile, @crowdfundedcure focuses on outcomes-based financing for open source medicines, aiming to substantiate the effectiveness of off-patent therapies, ultimately working towards making affordable medicine accessible to all. 🧪Savva then discussed the key challenge his companies aim to address: lowering healthcare costs via alternative funding for off-patent medical therapies. He covered the incentive structures in web2 and the role that blockchain could have in improving alignment between patients and pharma companies. He also offered an overview of decentralized approaches and shared concrete examples of how blockchain was leveraged for DeSci.
