When you look at Muslim scholar Dalia Mogahed, what do you see: A woman of faith? A scholar, a mom, a sister? Or an oppressed, brainwashed, potential terrorist? In this personal, powerful talk, Mogahed asks us, in this polarizing time, to fight negative perceptions of her faith in the media -- and to choose empathy over prejudice.

“I am Muslim,
Islam is Perfect but I am not. If I make a mistake blame it on me, not on my religion.”

I feel sorry for the people who just disliked and left. They missed their chance of escaping their own mind prison. I'm so grateful that I've found this talk. Thank you to all involved.

I used to teach in a small town where mostly the inhabitants were Chatolics/Christian believers. So I was the only Muslim in the school. None of my students were Muslim ofc. However, the students were really friendly and respectful. Before my contract was over, I had asked my students to write a letter for me. I still remember, one of the letters made me shocked. My student wrote that initially she hated all Muslims to the core after watching the anti-Muslim propaganda from the media like television, radio, or even internet. But after she knew me, she had had a change of heart. She said she loved me because I treated my students equally and not being bad to them. Well you see, it's just because of misconception about Muslim. What a certain group did could not be the representative for the whole group, right?

I'm German and we watched your Ted Talk in our English class today as we are currently talking about racism & islamphobia in America and I have to say, I was truly touched by your talk! I'm really thankful that we get to talk about such important issues in class and that we get to discuss them and listen to strong female voices sharing their experiences! :D

Yeah she's wearing a hijab, full sleeved clothes and yet look how beautiful she is looking. We don't need short exposing clothes to highlight our beauty
