980 Ti here, and using it for 1080p 60fps gaming. I can easily use for a couple more years.

The Metro Exodus benchmark is definetly not representative of how it actually runs in game. It surprisingly defaulted me to the ultra quality settings and it was above 60fps most of the time. I'm still really happy with this card and i never felt the need to upgrade this console generation, though i hope to upgrade sometime next year.

Awesome video again!. It's hard for me to believe that this GPU is 6 years old at this point, went from an older Radeon 7770 back in the day to this card and it was a huge jump for me.

I had a EVGA Superclocked GTX 980 which I bought for $150 USA in September, 2018 when it was exactly 4 years old. Every game was 1080p Ultra or almost Ultra settings, 60fps. But newer games like Modern Warfare required at least shadows to be dropped down a little bit, what made me upgrade was Red Dead Redemption which I had on medium getting 40fps barley. I luckily found a EVGA Superclocked 980 Ti, for $140 USA in December, 2019 so I was satisfied with that for 1080p 60fps ultra settings once again.

These are still great cards. For about the same price (maybe a little more) the 1060 6GB is just as good and probably a bit more power efficient too.

Hi hoosier hardware. Interesting to see a 980 and what it can do as there not that common. What would like to see is a comparison to some newer cards to give us more of an idea of what it's comparable too. Like I think the gtx 970 is close in performance to the gtx 1060 3gb card. So is the gtx 980 as fast as the gtx 1070?

I bought it now (2021) and i will use mostly it for esport games.. i made budget pc with i3-10100 and i ll play apex ow Lol and maybe sometimes gta ... i think gtx980 ll do Its job fine

Yeah i've had a 980 for about 6 years now, i got it when it was the flagship card. I can run current most AAA games at 1080p at around medium settings and hit 60 fps, with the most absolute most demanding games running at 30fps on low to medium settings. Esports games i typically can run at above 144fps fully utilizing my 1080p 144hz screen.

Ive been itching to upgrade my computer with the new year.. but the problem is if i just slap on a 3000 series card on my current setup the i7-6700k cpu likely bottleneck the gpu... but if i buy a new cpu then i have to buy a new motherboard... and if im already buying a new gpu, cpu and motherboard i might as well buy a new rig completely... you know how it goes. Then im probably looking at around 2000 euro all of a sudden... so maybe ill stick with my 980 for another year afterall.

Been running 2 of these ( reference model ) in SLI since early 2015.
Just ordered a 3080 and now I'm looking at videos to make me feel bad about dropping so much cash xD
Main reason I decided to upgrade is that not many new games have SLI support so having 2 is useless :( and having 1 is really starting to struggle @1440p
