-A guide to Novi Sad, Serbia for Tourists, Digital Nomads and Expats-

So we set off to find the best places to live and work cheaply as digital nomads and we started with Europe, specifically Eastern Europe because of the relatively low cost compared to the high quality of life. What we found out would help people decide whether or not this place is for you even if you are a tourist!

In the last episode we were in Timisoara, Romania. Here we crossed the border to explore Novi Sad, Serbia. Also once part of the enormous Hapsburg Empire, a beautiful city that is not too big, is welcoming to foreigners, and has a charming downtown area. It's started to really pop up on the tourist radar as well as on the digital nomad and expat radar. But WHY?

Find out what we liked about it and what we DIDN'T like about it (a hint, one of them has to do with the air). We explore Petrovaradin Fortress, the downtown, and give tons of personal commentary from our own perspective. Thinking of going here or just want to know what it's like over there? Join us for the next 10 minutes and find out the truth. Never fluff. Here on Picky Nomad :)

I'm a half Brit/Canadian living in the Balkans and I love it, especially Serbia. The people are absolute legends, the food is amazing (lots of meat, which is great!) and there's lots of interesting and beautiful places to explore- facinating old monasteries, beautiful nature (Tera National Park) and little gems of towns scattered throughout.

My family will be moving to Belgrade in more than likely early August. The relative low cost of living compared with what I consider an outstanding quality of life made this an easy decision.

Novi Sad looks amazing as well. My wife prefers Belgrade due to its size, but we'll spend time in both places.

Really fascinating report from a place few people know
about. The former Austro - Hungarian Empire is a treasure
trove of history /architecture and culture .

04:02 ticket for BUS for both directions, NS-BG + BG-NS is around 1000 dinars, something like 10 usd or 8 euros. Ticket for train is mutch more cheaper, i do not know exact price.

I was in Novi Sad once and never again. Very rude and arrogant people.

Novi Sad it's not only (old town, center area and fortress) and it's not a small town, Novi Sad is average medium sized city by european standards in diameter about 11 km.
And yeah, Novi Sad has a nice and solid underground community, so many gigs during a year and everything else.

Your like the Steve Carell of the travel world! Haha great video! Tome Nov Sad doesn’t look Serbian at all I’d take Nis, Arandjelovac, Leskovac, Topola over Novi Sad. Vojvodina is like your in Hungary 😂

Around 500 000, don’t forget that many people living there have ID from other small places, so with a half a milion it can definitely can not be called a town, it is a city. And by a European standards, half a milion is a lot. Sure it is not a Tokio, but still, small town, definitely not. Only bigger places around are Budapest, Belgrade and Zagreb

Now it is not that cheap, after a war started in Ukraine, prices skyrocketed, and huge migration of Russians and Ukrainians to Serbia, make a greedy home owners to triple the rents

And You are upset because children in Serbia my be exposed to cigarete smoke but I suppose You are not upset by the fact that children in USA can legaly mutilate themselves because "somebody" tell them, in the most vulnerable age, that they are not what they are acctualy by their birth and strongly encouraging them to do so....

wow. I was considering visiting Serbia but after finding out from you that smoking is allowed indoor everywhere (on top of the bad air quality), I've decided that I'd rather not go anymore. Just not worth the health risk imo.

DA LI SI TI RAZMISLJAO DA LI SE NAMA DOPADA DA "ZAPADNJACI " DOLAZE U NS. DODJES U ZEMLJU I POSTUJES PRAVILA TE ZEMLJE. AKO TI SE NE SVIDJA NE DOLAZIS. MISLIM DA JE BOLJE DA PUSIMO NEGO DA SE DROGIRAMO.
