Believe me if you'd been watching American football for your whole life you'd be even more impressed. Usually when you throw a ball across your body while your momentum is going away from your target the ball will hang up in the air too much and the other team will catch it and take possession. That just never happens to Patrick Mahomes he has crazy arm strength and shoulder flexibility.

Another thing about Mahomes is he's a terribly decent human being as well as a phenomenal athlete. You don't always--I'm tempted to say you don't often --get both.

Mahomes gets a lot of his side throws from his baseball background. He was a multi sport athlete growing up and played baseball and his dad was a long time Major League Baseball Player. I have never seen anyone throw side armed so accurately and all like he does. It’s wild!

Play #7 is even more impressive when you realize he made that jump pass on a knee he had dislocated just a few weeks earlier. This video is a few years old now too, so he’s had even more amazing plays since 😁

I live in Kansas City. Chiefs fan since moving here in 1968. Mahomes father was professional baseball pitcher and Patrick played baseball through his childhood. He incorporated many of his baseball throwing skills into football. He is changing the way the game is played. It has been a joy to watch after fifty years in the desert as a Chief’s fan.

Patrick is a machine. No human can move like he does. He can throw with his right or left arm.

1:12 They’ll play American football in any weather except for lightning. The snow games are the most fun

He's whats called a generational talent. A player like that comes around about every 10-20 years. What also helps him is that he landed on a team with an offensive genius and future Hall of Famer as a head coach, Andy Reid.

BTW....His favorite target is Travis Kelsey #87 one of the best Tight Ends in the game. He's also Taylor Swift's boyfriend. Didn't know if you pick up on that. They are all over the news here....LOL!

Kansas City Chiefs fan here. The last three Superbowls that the Chiefs won were against teams that overall were slightly better than the Chiefs, but Patrick Mahomes was the difference in those wins. Even if he's going down with a tackle, he can still throw a completion. His favorite target is Travis Kelce (number 87), who's a celebrity for being the boyfriend of Taylor Swift.

Mahomes is the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve been watching for 60 years.

1:00 "They play when it's snowing that hard?" Just this past postseason the Chiefs and the Dolphins had a playoff game that felt like -33C with the wind included. 1:33 He actually did that throw with an injured ankle. I have been a Kansas City Chiefs fan since I was a little kid in the 90s. We had a lot of bad seasons, and hadn't won a championship since 1969. There were times when my team was the joke of the league. Since Mahomes joined the team, we have been in the Super Bowl 4 of the last 5 times, and we have won 3 of them. I can't begin to describe how thankful I am for him. In 30 years of watching the game, I have NEVER seen a quarterback like him, and I am blessed that he is playing for my favorite team.

A couple of points.

As others have pointed out, Mahomes is a once in a generation player and is on a path to compete for the title of greatest of all time. His father was also a professional athlete, a baseball pitcher.
Also, don't underestimate how much his teammates help. Kelce is also a future hall of fame player and the two of them together are simply spectacular.

We call what he does hero ball. Tons of guys do it in college and almost every year a guy comes out that people think is going to do it in the nfl and it doesn't work. Usually it goes unbelievably bad.

The guy is a freaking cheat code.

He is more than a once in a generation talent. The guys who are like him that do make it still can't compare.

Mahomes is a once in a generation talent. You really don't see this every day.

And there have been two seasons played since this video was made. Both of which Mahomes brought home the Super Bowl trophy. The worst seasons he's had were losing the game before the Super Bowl in overtime.

Patrick Mahomes is crazy good he’s been in four of the last five Super Bowls. He has won three Super Bowls he’s 28 years old. I’ve seen Patrick throw the ball some crazy ways without even looking behind his back and the ball cannot touch the ground. A lot of the Chiefs players do Pilates so they can move so good. There is a video of Patrick Mahomes throwing the football out of the stadium into the parking lot. That’s how far he could throw.

One more comment, as a lifelong football fan, what Mahomes is doing breaks a lot of football's rules.

Quarterbacks running one direction and then throwing it the other direction is supposed to NEVER happen. Doing that practically guarantees the defender will grab the ball.

But Mahomes makes it work.

He's also what we call a gunslinger - a QB with a very strong arm who knows he can throw it all over the field, and trusts his receivers will get the ball instead of the defender.
Gunslingers typically have problems with throwing interceptions, because they tend to fall into a bit of "Fuck it, my guy's down there somewhere!" and throw it when they shouldn't. (Brett Favre or Jay Cutler are good examples)
But Mahomes is a gunslinger that doesn't throw interceptions. He's pretty careful with the ball.

As a chiefs fan Mahomes has been a god send to us. We have always had mediocre to decent qbs but nobody great during my life but mahomes is insane. His first year starting he had gaudy stats in his first 2 games but it was game 3 where I'm like wow I can believe this is our guy. The play from that 3rd game that made me think this was the one listed as 8 in this video

Born (1970) and raised in Kansas City, and I had to wait my whole life to see the Chiefs play in the Superbowl! Patrick Mahomes has been so much fun to watch the last 6 years - he does really unconventional stuff for a quarterback like suddenly throwing left-handed, and his down-field accuracy is spine-tingling! His wife Brittany is a phenomenal athlete in her own right and is one of the owners of a professional women's soccer team in Kansas City. Speaking of Taylor Swift's boyfriend, I never thought the Chiefs would see a better tight end than Tony Gonzalez, until Travis Kelce came along!
