Sanyo Eneloop AA Batteries & Charger Unboxing Linus Tech Tips

Well we needed some of these for use with the Tech Tips microphone as well as the Cameraman's wireless mouse at work, so we borrowed some from the warehouse much hilarious (okay none) ensues.

Actually Eneloops do not lose their charge when they are in storage to nearly the same extent that others do.

Also to say that any Ni MH battery is the same couldn't be further from the truth.

All rechargeable batteries deliver less than the optimal 1.5V, but Eneloops are able to stay closer for longer than any other rechargeables that I've used including Duracell, Energizer, any many other Ni MH AA cells over the years.

I use Eneloop batteries in my camera and they last a long time before they have to be charged again. These batteries have been around since 2006 and still they are the best choice.

I LOVE my Eneloops! :) I have some that are as much as like 10 years old, and almost all of them are fine. I do have maybe a couple, out of like 30 or 40, that seem to have much lower capacity, or won't even charge on my Maha MH-C808M, but most of them I haven't noticed much if any degradation. Also, I've NEVER had one leak, even when it's been discharged to like -0.1 volts. (Although, I do suspect polarity reversal does degrade its performance / lifespan noticeably, so that's something to be careful about.) I do wish they'd make C & D size ones. (I have some AccuPower Evolution 10, 000mAh D's that I've used for my Maglite, and they've been good for me. I've heard the newer ones aren't as good though.)

I have them and they work great, but they are pretty heavy compared to "Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries". That's something you'd surely notice when you stack 8 of them into a handheld device! I also used the Eneloops in my xbox controllers but after long game times the weight is noticeable too. If the weight isn't a factor for you then these Eneloop are the next best option!!

There's also a really great, compact USB Eneloop Recharger that can charge two AA as well as AAA Eneloops.

Check it out if you travel a lot or just want something you can take with your laptop.

You'll appreciate Eneloops more if you use regular(Non-LSD) NiMH first.
It keeps you from top-off re-charging over & over because you worry that the batteries you are about to use maybe near empty.
You'd be confident the batteries are near full capacity after 1 year(85%), or 2 year(75%) of non-use.
Having said that, I still top-off all my batteries once a year or so.

I've read quite a few reviews about these being good for canon speedlights. Seems like a good investment if you are going to be using a speedlight. Speelights seem to eat batteries really fast.

I made my own rechargeable battery packs with OLD Nicad RC batteries. Nicad isn't the best, but the RC cars were long broken anyway, lol.
