“Mellifluous choreambics”. Never heard or seen either of those words in my life lol. HP kept the thesaurus handy

This remains my absolute favorite of his works. I have listened countless times. Back when I used to read words on pages in The Before Time, I readed it many timeses then too 😜

This would almost be like a prophecy rather than a drug trip. This was a really good story, Lovecraft really gave birth to cosmic horror we really dont know what is out there. Good story again i loved it.

As someone who was strung out on opioids for nearly a decade (still physically dependent on methadone for the past 7 years, but will finally be weened completely in February), I can remember to the bizarre, yet beautiful nod dreams.

Grasses which are “menacing” indeed! Recalls an old personal favourite by Gouverneur Morris: “Back There in the Grass.”

The most hidden gem ever!, your voice sounds like from out of a 30s horror movie

Read this decades ago, hadn't thought of it in almost as long. Very atmospheric.

This takes me back to the 80s and my own varied experiments & experiences with opiates whilst travelling across Europe. Wonderful times indeed.

While my experience was far less scary... the parallels between this and my own NearDeath when something similar happened to me is uncanny. Especially the focus on water and the ocean. I felt no fear so when I felt “the other“ I interacted with them rather than ran. What I “learned“ that day forever changed me... and I value life more than ever but at the same time have absolutely no fear of death anymore. I will live as long as I can... but from what little glimpse I was given and memories I can hold... death is merely the end of a stage play (one with many characters, all played by the same actor, who just so happens to have wrote the play too.. what we think of as ourselves are not necessarily illusions or lies... they are true relative to our lives... but within the reality of the greater play... we are all the author and all Their actors as well)
