I was so surprised by the people who stopped and showed Amy so much love and compassion. And I was so hurt by the people who would not look at her and did not stop and would not show her that they cared about her standing there so vulnerable and offering them an opportunity to care about her and reach out in a gentle act of kindness. Then I questioned myself; how would I react to Amy? Would I walk by her if I was not having a good day and refuse to acknowledge her so absorbed in my own troubles and too selfish to care about another? Would I stop and take the time to reach out to her in a act of gentle love and kindness? I do not like drawing on people's bodies how would I react to that. Would I instead gently place my hand on her shoulder and tell her "may you have a blessed and joyful life, I will keep you in my heart and prayers"? Or would I overcome my adversity to body art and draw a heart on her foot and tell her I hope that love awaits you every step you take in life?

Sobbing like a baby over here. Thank you!!!! It’s been 3.5 years since I decided to radically accept my body and this time kick my ED for good. I was inspired by activists and artists like the one in this video. I’m a couple sizes larger now (the size my body prefers), but I am so much LIGHTER. *bonus* since I’m not constantly meal-prepping, self-shaming, and researching diets, I have much more time and energy for actually fun stuff! I have loads of new hobbies and skills! To anyone thinking about taking the plunge and doing the hard work of radically accepting and loving yourself: go for it! It’s not easy, but the return-on-investment is more than you can imagine (or, at least it was for me!) 💛💛💛

This made me cry as well and that is sadness for our shame. The pain our own thoughts cause us is real but unnecessary. Shame is the feeling of being disconnected from yourself, denying your own truth. Dropping my own shame through practicing self-love has been the best decision I have made. May you also find a way towards yourSelf!
