If I could respectfully suggest that you should have stopped at x = 2 + Log(2) as your answer and then just reminded your audience that 10^Log(a) = a and 10^(u+v) = 10^u*10^v.

You could then place back the 2 + Log(2) as x in the original equation as an integrity check.

10^(2 + Log(2)) = 10^2 * 10^Log(2) = 100 * 2 = 200 ... and so on.


Seeing the value of x as ~2.301 is ugly.
