As a Russian, I can tell you that, soviet Union was Atheist, yet many people still respect our culture and tradition which is tied to orthodox church and many consider themselves Christians yet they dont follow rules or visit church.
Even though I am not fully religious, if someone asks me who am I in terms of faith, then I will answer - Christian.

It's some kind of small cultural tradition to keep religious oriented stuff around, and we value that. At least majority.

Russian Gas is not higher in Octane, we USE an R+M scale, US/CAN use ROM scale... Means 87us=92rus, 91us =95Rus etc.... but the gas is the same

But yeah, America won the Space Race because they used German scientists, who were forgiven their *war crimes*, so they could go to the Moon before Russia. America likes to claim it won things in History alot

As far as I know, the octane numbers are not the same as in USA. In Germany fe we have up to 102. 95 is normal. And I often heard that 95 is equal to 80 something in the US.

People are arguing about who actually won the space race like there really was a specific goal that can be seen as the finish in the race. In my opinion nobody won it

I really liked my holiday in Russia. Beautiful place, friendly people, very inviting. But I don’t think (or want) to be back anytime soon. Instead of more supermarkets etcetera you may want to visit Bolshoi theatre, which I remember as very awesome. So many caviar champagne breaks. 15 years ago they still had old fashion seatng rules: man sit behind the woman. I bet those rules are still on. Grandeur! Bring a suit.

(I might be mixing up with the Marinsky theatre st Petersburg, i guess it was in both. The old but very nice sleeper ‘red arrow’ train moscow -petersburg is beyond awesome aswell. I visited a ballet and an opera which were beautiful like a dream)

1) Traditionally, all women's surname ends in "A"
2) Formal letter has an (!) at the end of the first sentence
