These are wise words but it’s not poetry

Yelling at someone isn’t always anger. If a kid is about to walk over a poisonous snake coiled to strike, the parent doesn’t yell because they’re mad. They yell because it’s necessary to alert the child of danger immediately. People have a way of twisting everything others do that might be unpleasant in the moment into the worst possible light. A better poem would try to navigate the complexity of that relationship between child and parent. It wouldn’t just finger point.

And tbh she could have made the poetry good by using rhyme scheme and poetic devices
But she didn't

I feel like here she made one of her better poems worse by not doing the whole slam poetry reading of it, whereas in the others it's much worse because the ones I've seen her do that for have less substance.

It feels like she's rushing through this one and not focusing on the end line at all which is the punch to the entire thing as well
