'I wasn't financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my third house already, earn on a monthly through passive income, and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! I’ve never looked at it from this prospective. Interesting. I’m a new investor and I’ve recently started with vanguard S and P 500 2 months ago. Let’s see how I get on. I have put together a 20 year retirement plan so I’m a long term investor

I really wish the use of these comedy segway bits in these vids would end, just stick to giving good advice.

Chris - invest through a GBP hedged S&P 500 ETF such as the iShares GSPX and the performance tracks the actual benchmark without FX effects, and it's denominated in £ so nothing to worry about when buying or selling. Forget VUSA, VUAG etc they have been heavily skewed as £ tanked in recent months.

I've been aware of this problem for a while now and been looking at options.

I would like to invest in the Nasdaq but I'm out off by the FX risk.

I have found EQGB which is a fund that tracks the Nasdaq, but it's in GBP. A good way to get exposure to the US market but without the FX risk. I'm sure there's others similar for the S&P too.

What is your view on the effects on markets and funds based on the "mini budget" that chancellor announced?

Hi Chris, I currently have a Trust Fund Account but looking to convert that into a Stocks and shares junior ISA where I can Invest In what I want to, I need to tranfer, what would you say is the best platform to do this, and is HL worth for someone starting out as a beginner, Or do you have any other recommendations. Please get back to me ASAP and let me know other platforms where possibly fees are lower and I can choose my own investments or is HL the best bet?

Thanks

You can always invest in hedged S&P 500 index's.

Looking to reallocate my portfolio sometime soon. There are a few funds I have still in the red - so waiting for them to go back to positive before selling and moving. Thoughts on a 90% FTSE Global All Cap and 10% Emerging Markets Index setup? (Fidelity Index World + Fidelity Index Emerging Markets) Setup a direct debit and leave it type portfolio. Just those two. 0.12% for the world and 0.20% for the emerging markets (on-going fee). Thanks!

Chris, think I would add the ESG Developed world All Cap, and the Global Equity Income fund, which is very steady..👍😁

Silly question but does this FX fee apply to Vanguard VUSA or VUAG?
Are they not just tracking the US but are in fact bought and sold as pounds?

Hi so is buying VUSA in pounds and selling in pounds without the exchange rate? Or are the pounds being converted?

Quote from todays Telegraph:

Mr Hollands said: “Over 70pc of the FTSE 100’s revenues are outside of sterling. When the pound falls, it boosts companies’ reported earnings when they are converted back into sterling. This means that investors will also get a foreign exchange boost when they receive dividends too.”

What about the vanguard version? That has already been converted to £'s. (Apologies if that is a ridiculous question, I'm just getting started with investing).
