His stare, his hand looking like he lost all sense of touch after knocking down the pieces without even noticing, him getting stuck on the chair... Not an image that can be forgotten, feels bad for Ian

First handshake was brutal to resign the game, but loved the second handshake Ding offered where he thanked him for the games. Gentleman's sport

That last game was so intense to watch! Nepo looking at the trophy in the last moves and Ding crying after winning, man what emotions!

0:30 You can tell Ding feels bad for Nepo. When Nepo was devastated, Ding avoids looking at him so as not to make him feel worse. Finally glances at him when he couldn't resist anymore. As if When Nepo was heart broken, Ding could feel his pain. Calmly, shakes his hand 2nd time supportively.

No screams, no fist bumps, just soaking the moment. Ding is gracious, empathetic, humble, relatable and deserving.

The way Ian was shaking, accidently knocking the pieces over and staring at the trophy broke my heart. Anyways, a well deserved win for Ding, congrats to him

The respect from Ding to offer Nepo another handshake once he registers that their championship match is really over

Head says Ian, Heart says Ding. Congrats to my boy Ding, he deserved this.

I don't think Ding even realized they shook hands the first time. What a moment. The culmination of a long struggle for Ding. Congratulations.

My heart is crushed. Seeing Nepo in this intimate state is heartbreaking all the way. He lost 2 times in a row. How a person can cope with that through his life. I just wish him all the best in the world.

Aw man.. Nepo's reaction is heartbreaking. Both are incredible in their own right. I hope he doesn't get too discouraged by this

Let's not forget how we got here. Ding refuted a threefold repetition in a dead drawn position! Squeezing water out of stone, just like Magnus. That's the mark of a world champion.

For a person that doesn't show so much of his emotions most of the time, seeing him dropping the pieces and his shaking hands is just heartbreaking. A tear falls down from me everytime I watch this man...

These guys fought like a lions. So much passion, intensity and drama. Huge respect to both of them.

I almost broke up seeing Ian in so much pain and discomfort. I wish him all the calm and peace and more power for next Candidates

I feel so heartbroken for Ian, he knows he made his final blunder, he looks at the trophy, his hands trembling, topples all the black pieces without him noticing, and gets stuck on the chair after conceding. I was rooting for Ding from the start but I feel so bad for Ian.

Nepo's reaction at 0:30 is genuinely one of the saddest things I've seen. Looking to his side like a child that got lost and tries to find an empathetic face, someone to console him and guide him back to the place, the time, in which he had once felt at ease; his hands pumping with adrenaline, shaking so much that they stumble upon the pieces that took so much to capture, clumsily scattering on the table and the floor, representing all the effort being reduced to nothingness. I can't even imagine the shock of being on the biggest stage of your biggest passion, thinking you'd just transition into the next phase and suddenly realizing your opponent is going for the win with less than five minutes remaining in total, and that he actually has all the chances for it, and that your dream has been inadvertently crushed just like that, dissipated right in front you. I was rooting for Ding the whole way, but that moment made me feel terrible. One of the most authentic displays of emotion I've ever seen; no theater, no exaggeration, just total despair and hopelessness.

I like how Ding went in for another handshake. You can tell he's filled with all kinds of emotions at that point but still tries to acknowledge Ian as if he feels guilty at that particular moment

As a person who is from the same country and the same city as Ding, I feel proud and honored to see him win the world champion! Congratulations Ding!
