Woman critically injured after getting hit by e-bike

A pedestrian was struck and critically injured by an e-bicyclist going the wrong way in Manhattan. Johny Fernandez has the story.

If you don't implement any regulations/standards/rules for e-bikes and their owners, that's what happens. You drive a vehicle in this City, you should obey 25 mph speed limit, and you need to have driver's license, insurance, and registration. Conversely, if you drive e-bike in this CIty, you should obey 25 mph speed limit, and you DON'T need to have driver's license, insurance, and registration. Moreover, as e-biker, you get to ride in the wrong direction on one-way streets, and ride on sidewalks without any

I ride my bike in NYC and it's getting out of control. People regularly don't obey the path direction. A lot of them are food delivery guys who either don't understand the paths are one way or they don't care because they're trying to make a fast delivery. However, the people riding gas-powered motor bikes on the greenways really scare the hell out of me. Try riding over the Queensboro Bridge at 8 o'clock at night and you'll see 4 or 5 motor scooters zip past you, no plates, no helmets doing roughly 30-35 mph. It's a free-for-all-basically. Very dangerous. And of course, traffic lights are optional to them. Don't worry though. Our mayor is on it.

Why would you drive your ebike the opposite way the traffic is flowing? I guess common sense is not common. The other issue is the ebikes are to silent and people don't look when they cross the street or walk as there too busy on there phones

I actually had the same thing happen to me here in Brooklyn last Winter. My Boyfriend & I were crossing a very snowy street in between parked cars, as a car was passing by, I decided to take a step back & right when I did, an E-Scooter zooming by super fast clipped me head on & we both crashed into a pile of snow. Thankfully I was wearing a very thick puffer jacket & landed on a pile of snow. The rider was also fine as well but the swift impact knocked me unconscious for a bit

1st off I hope this woman will be alright and they catch the jerk who hit her 2nd who cares about the street being active again a woman was critically injured. these so call riders on e bikes scooters moped always drive / go the wrong way they don't care though not all but many yes and the woman is right about 2nd ave I used to do security around there.
