I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!

Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

Thanks for watching!

The biggest thing Prime has to apologize for is their ultra-crappy interface.

Prime video has become nearly unwatchable. The fact that they have ads is bad enough. the fact that the put ads in the MIDDLE OF A MOVIE is unforgivable. That's what the free streaming services do. Even the paramount and peacock movies only have ads at the beginning.

Every time I try to start a movie on Prime and see that stupid advertisement timer pop up I immediately turn it off. Injecting ads into a service we were paying for to avoid ads should be illegal.

Biggest Prime complaint! Advertisements! I didn't purchase it too wait minutes for the ads to end to start a movie or to interrupt the movie. I can get movies with ads on local TV. Seriously considering it

YouTube just added Quiz Show, (hardly ever comes on any service), A Beautiful Mind.
And Friedkin never told anyone about filming in traffic for French Connection. He then turned the car chase on its head for Live and Die in L.A. when the chase went against traffic for the first time. Remember Siskel & Ebert being amazed and applauding this "new" take on the car chase.

I'm guessing someone at Prime Video saw Darren's video and decided Prime Video is too user friendly. They probably had a focus group on ways to make it less user friendly.

Just watched Smile 2 last night, it was a great, creepy ride indeed. Thanks for always putting out THE best recommendations and showing up ready to work with a great vibe EVERY time you show that handsome face!

People who love the books actually HATE the tv version of The Wheel of Time.

I'm definitely aging myself here, but I saw Buckaroo Banzai in a theater when it came out. And, even though I was little, I first heard of The Posiedon Adventure when my family went to the drive-in. We would go once or twice a month during the summer, depending on the movies that were showing. Back then, they would have an old cartoon before the movies(Pink Panther, etc.). And then the first movie would be a family movie, usually a Disney movie( Herbie the Love Bug, Petes Dragon, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, etc.). Then the 2nd movie would be a movie for the adults since by the time that movie played, kids were usually asleep. I have great memories of those times.

On some of the forums, I've seen only a few who claim to have read the books and love the Wheel of Time show. Personally, i barely made it through the first 2 episodes. It's only in the name of the books and characters. They've changed characters' backgrounds and added relationships they never should have. The creator of the show took great liberties and thought he could do a better job and has basically alienated the fans. He's added scenes that didn't exist, such as the one that will be in next season to make it more cool, but it messes with actial scene that took place in the background. Making Mat's father abusive was really bad, changing Rand's relationship with Egwene, and Perrin's relationship was absolutely wrong. Reasons were given byt they were not logical. I heard other things that were changed and glad i stopped watching. I heard that although the series was supposed to be working with Sanderson and Jordans widow, neither have been happy with the changes, and the direction has gone. I'm not sure where you got the infirmation that fans of the book are enjoying it because a huge vast majority are not.

Man remember the days when you had to GO OUT and get your movie. It brought so much excitement and looking forward to vs channel surfing now and being so overwhelmed. Miss those Friday night Blockbuster days!

I've not talked to a single reader of the WoT that are enjoying the series, man. Anecdotally from a household of 3 book enjoyers. Good list though. Excited about Smile 2. And rewatching The French Connection tonight.

Re Wheel of Time
Not sure where you are getting your info, but every fan of the books I have talked to hates the series (including me, quit after the ssn 1 finale), and based on all the comments on the FB ads, people very much dislike how they abandoned, and seemingly despise the source material.

Am I wrong, what do fans of the books say?

I took a film class over 30 years ago, and we had to watch and analyze the chase scene. I have never seen anything like it!

My favorite Gene Hackman movie is probably the The Conversation. And, of course, Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood. He was so good in so many movies. Love Twister. Hate Twisters. And Super 8 is a great kids movie.

Great homage to the great late Gene Hackman. Just watched The French Connection and it really holds up and is all that you said, Darren. Smile was indeed really good! Definitely going to add the other Gene Hackman movies. Thanks, Darren, and yes, please keep making your videos!

I liked Smile 2 better than The Substance. Goes off the rails with body horror at the end as well but it was more subtle in its messaging and I think more tense.

I made a list as you were going through them, but thank you so much for having the screen list at the end, I will keep that in mind in the future. I like hearing what you have to say but sometimes I might not have the time to go through all your videos so I could at least you knowsee what you are given thumbs up to or at least you know to pay attention to and then I could decide which ones I wanna grab have a great weekend
