When a synth pop song from 36 years ago sounds modern, it makes me realize culture has stagnated over the last 15 years or so. Until about the late 2000s, music, fashion, art, culture changed quickly. Now it’s all rehashing of the same. This is an example of “The slow cancellation of the future” as Mark Fisher put it.

This video made me really like this song. It plays like a music video. I love toward the end of the video when Joel is beating the guard to death and it pans over to Ellie the realization that you thought this story was going to be about Joel but in reality it’s about Ellie and it feels so good. Ellie’s story is so good in the show.
