BRAN OR PELES CASTLE?

This might upset some people, but the way we look at it... we want you to have the BEST experience in Romania, so we had to be honest! It's better if you go back home telling everyone about how amazing your time in Romania was and recommend it, instead of feeling like you visited a tourist trap!

If you have any questions, let us know. We are always happy to help :)

Thanks so much for watching and for supporting our channel. We will see you on Sunday with a new video.

Thank you so much for watching our videos! Also, keep in mind that a lot of locals recommend visiting Corvin's Castle as well :) So, one more thing to do in Romania 🇷🇴

PS: we messed up the location of Peles Castle, since it's not in the Transylvania region as we said it in the intro. It's actually in the Muntenia region but easily reachable if you are in Transylvania as it is close to the border between the 2 regions :)

Just returned from Romania. Visited both Bran Castle and Peles Castle. Peles Castle was absolutely amazing.

Just for a fun fact, Sinaia (with Peleș Castle) isn't in Transylvania, but in Wallachia

For English speaking people, turn on subtitles and switch from Romanian to English.

Great video! We did so many of the same things you did when we were there last month! We were lucky to visit Bran Castle on a not so busy day (Friday, Sept 2) and I enjoyed it quite a lot, actually. The setting on the hill is really dramatic. And at the top of the very narrow stairs at 2:55 there was music on the day we visited. I was really glad we went, and I liked the market a lot at the bottom of the hill. Once Rasnov reopens again in 2023, visitors can see a castle & hilltop fortress in close proximity to each other on the same day. Visiting Bran and Peles in the same day is pretty ambitious, especially if there are traffic problems on the E60 roadway, which occur frequently.
Peles, to me at least, seems more like Biltmore House here in the US, than other European castles I've seen. They were built at roughly the same time so the similarities make sense.
Like you say, every room at Peles is stunning. That dining room is just amazing! If I remember correctly, third floor was mostly apartments for the King's visitors, etc. so I don't think you missed very much.
Thank you for the video, and so glad you enjoyed Romania (my grandfather's homeland).

You should also visit the seaside of Romania, it is quite spectacular in the summer, and also Salina Turda, it is like a huge underground cave with shops, lakes and parks inside

I love how you are switching up in front and behind the castle and the sound affects are cute too. For sure hands down the Peles Castle but after 3 weeks of seeing and visiting cathedrals in Italy I loved the lovely grounds the most!

Guys, you're fun and nice. 🙂Loved watching your trek through our country. Couple of things, Peles can't be the prettiest castle in Transylvania, because... it's not in Transylvania. 😁Corvin Castle might be though, if you do get around to visit it.

Also, Vlad's moniker "Dracul" does not stand for "the Devil". His family line was called the House of Drăculești. His father was Vlad II "Dracul", meaning Vlad the Second - the Dragon. Vlad the Impaler's name was Vlad III Drăculea, meaning Son of the Dragon. This is because his father was a member of a medieval chivalric order called the Order of the Dragon (or Societas Draconistarum), founded by Sigismund of Luxembourg, king of Hungary and Croatia, who later became the Holy Roman Emperor. 🙂

As a turist yes Peles is more beautiful and if somene only has time or money for one to visit definetly Peles is the right choice but is not fair to compare in reality . Bran Castle is a fortress at origin . It was placed at the border do defend it and to colect border tax. Once you see it from this point of view it makes more sense . It was in a bad shape like 100 years ago and the town gave it to the royal family . The Queen made it a residence and was renovated to be more like a house than a military fortress . Peleș on the other hand is technicaly a palace . It may not be the biggest palace but it was build as a royal residence so it has all the beauty and the luxury . It even had a vacuum cleaning system . Next to it is Pelisor Castle . Is small and more like a home but it has a room covered in gold . For anyone going to Sinaia dont miss the monastery . Is at the begining of the road to the castle, is beautiful and free to see. Corvin Castel is the perfect medieval castle. It looks exactly as people expect, a true fantasy come true. Is unfortunately quite empty inside but it does worth a stop .

I have seen both castles a couple of times. Same as you guys, I was not impressed with Bran castle first time, but the second time I felt in love with it. I think it is so romantic, it really grows in you. Totally different than Peles, but just near my heart 🥰

Hello, You should’ve mentioned about Peles Castel is the only Castle of that time to have running water, central heat, elevator ( still a working one) and vacuums ( still working, being adapted at those time ) King Carol | was German but he and his wife Queen Mary, did so much good for Romanian people❤

If you get to Sibiu and then you want to drive to Alba Iulia, there's a great scenic road you can choose, instead of the highway: through Slimnic (which has an amazing citadel on a hill), Mandra, Pauca all the way to Teius, a bit north of Alba Iulia. It's very little known and in great shape (at least up to Alba county line). Farther away, if you get to Northern Transylvania, Bistrita-Nasaud county's mountains are impressive (try Colibita lake) and from there you get get to Moldavia (Suceava county) where there are some beautiful medieval monasteries built by Stephen the Great. They stand out by being painted woth images on the outside too and for the architecture (Moldovita, Sucevita, Voronet are the most famous ones, also in beautiful mountain sorroundings). Btw, for a more Western Europe medieval feel, north of Sibiu there are a lot of medieval fortified churches (in Biertan, Viscri- new king Charles III owns properties in the village, Saschiz, some of the more famous ones)

Peles Castle (Sinaia resort) is not in Transylvania. He is in the northern area of Muntenia. The border between Muntenia and Transylvania is the resort of Predeal.

Nice video, thank you! Although many people say that Peleș Castle is in Transylvania, this is false. Peleș Castle is in Wallachia (Muntenia), another region of Romania. Peleș Castle is a Neo-Renaissance castle in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, It was constructed (between 1873 and 1914) for King Carol I, who was the King of Romania (before the union of (small) Romania with Transylvania (1918).
