Fix inkjet printer paper feed problems - feeder roller cleaning

Here I show a Canon MG2250 inkjet printer.

The problem is:
When the printer tries to print, it does not take a sheet of paper to begin the printing job.
The paper feed rollers that are supposed to feed the paper into the printer do not work and just slide on the paper instead of pulling it.

This can be fixed easily with a printer / scanner transport cleaning sheet.
But those are made for bigger printers and scanners and I will try to make a DIY printer transport cleaning sheet.

This is valid only for small printers where you don't have easy access to the paper feed rollers.

If you have access to the paper feeding rollers, you can just clean them with alcohol. That way the rubber on the feeder rollers will be able to grab the paper and feed the printer.

6 years later and you're still helping people solving this problem. I didn't have double-sided, so used regular scotch tape and taped several pieces together facing up and then taped them down to the paper on the edges with another piece facing down. It took several passes, but now my printer pulls paper in like it should. Thank you!

OMG, this really worked!!! I was so frustrated!! If you already are on your last nerve, just fast forward to 4:30 minutes in. First I had a paper jam, then the printer just kept mangling each subsequent page ... DO THIS ... Use one piece of card stock paper and a couple strips of small double-sided tape on the card stock. This is the best part ... LOL ... jam this paper in and out to relieve tension (if you were frustrated like me, haha) and the dirt on the inside roller comes off on the tape and then the roller has traction It literally takes 20 seconds (unless you have a ton of frustration to get FYI DO NOT put that sticky paper on the floor if you have nosy cats .... yep, mine stepped RIGHT ON IT before entry!! Thank you so much for saving the printer from the trash and me from angina!!!

It’s 2020 and this still works, had my crappy work one break and then my home printer had THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. Not only was HPs help video worthless, this video saved me from throwing my printers out a window. I used a lint roller sheet and it was perfect. Thank you so much for this!

Someone suggested pushing through a piece of cardboard, scary. I cleaned it with a qtip right now, got some oily mess and now it's working again. Thank you mate.

정말 감사합니다. 양면 테이프가 없어서 a4 한면 코팅지 필름을 사용햇습니다. 윗부분 5cm만을 벗겨내고 끈적한 부분을 롤러에 닿게 해 밀어넣고 앞뒤로 50번 정도 넣었다 뺏다 하는 식으로 수십번하니 이물질과 먼지들이 코팅지 접착면에 많이 묻어나왔습니다. 그리고 프린트 출력 테스트를 하자 3장 다 잘나오게 되었습니다. 덕분에 수리비가 들지 않았습니다. 당신에게 감사합니다.

Thanks man! I didn't try your method since double tape isn't available but it was urgent for me to clean the rollers. With your video, I suddenly got an idea. What I did was: I made the end of a blank paper a little bit wet with water and a bit of alcohol. Just some drops of water on my fingers then spread it on the end. I saw some dirt that the wet end of the paper managed to remove. Then I decided that I should still clean it more, so I put some alcohol on my fingers and slightly wet the ends of another paper. And more dirt removed.

The result: feeder roller became more smooth. I don't have to put only one paper one by one whenever I need to print many pages or copies. :)

About to buy replacement printer found your video ordered Amazon Prime- 24 hour delivery -double side tape 2inch-cut A4 size small box cardboard sheet stuck length of tape sticky side up on the leading edge-to the edge-then with printer off pushed the cleaning board in and out a few times felt like an inch or so, -easy in tougher out then turned printer on with maybe 30 sheets or so in the loader and Bingo no issue the first sheet went straight in! Job done thanks to you, much appreciated well done! Mike

Thanks for the tip!
I was actually able to reach my printer's rollers with a q tip and some alcohol.
I wiped them for a couple minutes, let the alcohol dry for about ten minutes, and it started printing just fine!

hey man, just wanted to thank you! i was just about to visit a printer technician tomorrow to have my printer fixed. but your double sided tape gave me an idea. i instead attached a regular tape to a piece of paper and made sure they wouldn't come off easily even if i hold on to the paper so it doesn't go in completely.

after a couple cycles doing this, it works now even with just a single paper. thank you man, really really thank you!

This video gave me ideas so I appreciate it. I ended up using a pencil, taped a q-tip to it, wrapped tape around the end of the q-tip and ran it across the rollers a few times and that worked for mine!

Amazing! Thank you! Used a bit of lint roller paper. Got stuck a little, but came out with a ruler. Great solution that none of the experts suggested.

I used my ruler and tape the ruler with a normal tape because I didnt had a double sided tape and cleaned the roller, and it worked. MAY GOD BLESS YOU!
