Ness is actually “burnt rubber”.

The scents are somewhat “archived” (more affordable that is) if you purchased Legends of Localization 2: Earthbound by Mato. I’m not sure if the most recent copies of the book still have the scratch and sniff cards though.

When people mention the scratch-n-sniff cards being part of why the game didn't sell well in America, I always thought it was because one was Master Belch and smelled like something disgusting, contributing to the whole "this game stinks" theme. For some reason I'm really surprised that the grossest thing was just sweat.

My dream is that somebody reprints these with the same technology you used to get colonge samples in magazines from. I doubt I'll ever be willing to spend 2, 000$ on my CIB copy but I'd pay someone that owned them to let me scratch n sniff the authentic cards

mine are really faded so I'm probably not getting the same smells someone would've experienced back in the day, but IMO the dog smells kinda like very faint cinnamon, the mushroom kinda smelled like river water, bubble monkey smells so good like banana. The ness smells like skunk!!! SO DISTINCTLY!!!.... also, I'm glad that the mystery smell was pizza, cuz that's what I guessed :D

I think the angry video game nerd sniffed them in his review of eathbound, but i could be wrong. I remember him saying they all smell bad, and ness smells the worst of them all.
