What It's Like to Take the GED at Home

So my question is guys, I Fail the first time I can’t take another test at home?

I ended up changing my online to taking it at my local testing center. I’m a new mom and The only place I’m able to take it is at my job. (We’ve been closed inside due to COVID-19.) still a lot of movement inside from my coworkers but I don’t want to get kicked out for them hearing other voices. Also the fact that we can’t use note paper or a real calculator. I’ve taken math 3 times and failed. I’m not about to fail a 4th time. I’ve been studying my ass off for the last 3 months just to pass. My practice test score for math was a 154 so that’s making me feel positive in myself

Virginia is currently free for GED tests, in person or online through Adult Education Program enrollment for a limited time.

I did one of my test last week and my toddler burst in the room screaming and calling me and I panicked and opened my eyes wide at the screen but the lady watching me told me to continue 😩😂

I just finished RLA, Science, and Social Studies online. Once I got past my nerves it was a breeze. It went smoothly.

In Michigan it is $7 more to take it online. If you fail your test, you can take another one right away. If you take your practice test, then schedule your test on the same day they usually give you free retakes.

Damn they act like the world will end if somebody cheats not saying I would just saying the requirements for the test are overboard and ridiculous

imagine you have your brother trolling someone on the internet and get ddos'ed while your sitting and doing the test in your room. $75 wasted but this is a rare case.

I did RLA, and that was the worst since it was my first, i read through it fast and rushed it to end it, luckily passed it despite all that (149), after my nerves went away i did social studies and passed (161), did science, didn’t realize you couldn’t use paper and were so many math questions, wasn’t prepared, but luckily passed (151), ive yet to do math but after doing all that math on science and not being able to do the math problems on paper im going in person for that one! Once you get passed some person staring at just specifically you and your screen it’s pretty effective and east!

One thing to note is the math test "scratchboard" sucks so you basically have to do all the laying out of equations in your head

I took science, social studies, language arts online. Math, I am doing at a testing ctr. I need to write the problems. Like, impossible for me to just do it in the computer..

I did it and they just stole my money 😓 I was doing the test when they just shut down the app and I lost my $40 that I paid for the test 😣

It’s absolutely I took my math test and was completely stressed out the whole time I was testing. It’s ridiculous!! You have to do EVERYTHING on the computer including rough work/scratch pad. It’s hard enough trying to remember certain steps in math let alone having to deal with all the ridiculous rules they had. Pass mark is 145 and up and I got 144.

But I'm halfway done now and it is pretty convenient I'll give them that I'm taking language arts on Friday and Math next Friday or Saturday to finish up not gonna lie a little disappointed at my scores but for the little bit of time I've put into doing the test passing is passing at this point I just need to get this done so I can enlist in the military
