Basically we have to read self help books like a handbook like quickly finding and reading a specific principle to apply straight away than reading it like a fiction, story book like reading to completion and choosing the next book then choosing the next book.

Great advice. Also, don't read "in your head". Just look at the text and consume. You'll read much faster.
If you just want to sit down and read without applying it like Hamza said here, just pick something you can relate to, it will warm you up quicker so that you can go on and read the useful stuff that's maybe boring to learn. Non-fiction books don't have to be fully read.
