As someone who’s never read the books and REALLY enjoyed the first film, I’m ready for what part 2 brings. For the Fremen!

Cinematography, music, scale, miracle - all this is so fascinating! We are incredibly grateful to Denis for bringing such a complex story to life with his own eyes

To answer Aaron's question about riding the worms, they use the hooks to pull back the scales which exposes the sensitive flesh underneath. The worms have to stay above ground and keep the exposed part of them on top because the sand is too abrasive for their skin underneath. That's also how they steer, by pulling the scales back on another side and forcing the worm to turn that side upward

For me it's all about Austin Butler's portrayal of Feyd Rautha. I can't wait for this movie!

I think this is one clear example where reading the book before watching the movie can extremely improve your watching experience and make you enjoy the images better. To a simple viewer the movie could seem slow and not always clear; for a book reader the movie is a visual jewel that embodies the fantasies and the feelings permeating the book. You need to know the book to enjoy certain details in the movie, otherwise they are lost.

Eric, reading Dune is absolutely worth your time. One of the most profound and badass books I've ever read. However the first book is only one piece of the puzzle in what Frank Herbert, the author, was really trying to say; in other words, just read the whole series. It's amazing and will get you super hype for the potential for more films.

I LOVE Florence Pugh so I hope this version of Princess Irulan is at least 10x better than the book. I think she NEEDS to be for the movie audience to like her.

The fact that I and all the book reader of the group instantly notice what is shown in the trailer gives me hype for the cinematography of this film.

to answer aaron’s question at 2:38; those hooks hold the worm’s segment open. if it were to go under, sand would get into the sections and no one likes that feeling, not even worms. they stay up until the hooks release that section… that’s why in the books anyway.

edit: calvin just explained lol thanks calvin

“How do you stop it from going under?” The ‘maker’ hooks are not only used steer, but they pull back the hard plates of the worm, exposing the softer flesh underneath. This causes the worm to want to keep that part away from the sand, thereby keeping it above ground and the rider on top.

Austin Butler went from MTV the Shannara Chronicles that was decent to Elvis now Dune, my guy finding his footing as compelling actor.

The one actor that is new to the cast is Austin Butler. He just played Elvis last year. You guys would love that Elvis movie, especially with Eric’s love for music.

They stop it from going under and steer with the hooks which open the segments and expose the soft tissue to the sand so the worm avoids damage.
The Bald character is Feyd Ratha Harkonnen, played by Austin Butler (he is basically the anti- Paul)
