Such an incredible visit back! Awesome editing too! I’m currently in China for the first time, my husband’s home country, and I’m blown away by how wonderful the people, the food, the cities, the natural landscapes, really everything has been 🥹 Great to watch your first time back after so many years!! You have such a wonderful family and your cousins are so adorable!

Happy to see more overseas Chinese reconnecting again :) I was born in Europe, but my parents brought me to their rural Chinese hometown so they could focus on earning money while I was taken care of by my grandparents up until i turned 4/5. Though I was not there for as long as you did, I still have many memories of that humble but free life I had. I am sad and regretful about not visiting my grandparents more often as they are getting real old now, and one has already passed away. This serves me to learn to take nothing for granted and really cherish the moments you have with your family. If you have the financial means to do so, please visit them often. To our grandparents, seeing their children and grandchildren is one of their greatest joy in life.

I'm Korean-American, and watching this made me realize how nice China actually is. My Filipino step-sister wants to go to college in China, so this is pretty cool seeing how China is.

Wow, how is it even possible to watch a video of someone having experiences on the other side of the world and feel like I was there? As a Brazilian guy who lives in a big city, I identify so much with you when you visited your old hometown in China. My family was raised in the countryside, and the last time I was there, I got in touch with a part of my family that I had just forgotten about. Since the last time I saw them was like 15 years ago. Even though the whole experience was life-changing, as I feel more connected with my roots and felt so loved and seen by this part of me that I just forgot that I had.

I'm also from NYC and preparing for my own trip to China next month to visit my grandma. The Youtube algorithm never fails - so glad it led me to your vid!! ☺

Hello, I’m adopted Chinese in America raised by white parents and this video really helped me appreciate my home country a bit more. I’ve wanted to connect to my own roots more lately. Thanks for sharing!

This was such a sweet video. And honestly it made me a little jealous. I also went back to China when I was 18 after being away from the country for 10 years, but I had so little memories, I don’t even remember where I went to school. I also didn’t have little cousins so it definitely felt a bit lonely because I don’t remember any of the friends I had as an elementary student… I didn’t feel like I made the same deep reconnection you did with your family (most of my close family moved with me to the U.S.). But I did feel that deep connection with my roots. This year I went back to China again (as a 33 year old) and again I felt the deep connection with my roots and a deeper connection with the family still there (I guess I’m older now so I connect better with my older relatives). I spent a long time traveling across China and really enjoyed and appreciated this country. I hope in the future, I’ll make more friends in China so I can enjoy it even more 😊maybe I’d even consider moving back. (P.s. I live in nyc as well. So this video really spoke to me)

Honestly, watching this just gives me so much nostalgia. I was born in Chongqing, China and lived there until I was 5, and my parents and I frequently visited our relatives all over China during the Christmas holidays. I haven't been back since COVID-19, it's been 4 years. This has to be one of the best China vlogs I've seen, Fuzhou is such a beautiful place!

crazy how nostalgia and family love connects across countries, continents, and cultures. i am mexican and ive lived in california since i was 7 as well. this feels so similar to what i experience every time i go back to mexico and visit family. it's insane how your blood recognizes your homeland, it's almost like you can breathe easier and feel so much lighter in your skin. love being shown around and getting to eat my favorite foods in the world. this is so special and beautiful. i cry every time i have to go home as well <3 loved this so much. new sub!
