@ShadowBrave21 huge difference. producing a song is like making a pie. in mixing you put all the ingredients together at the right amounts. in mastering you put it in the oven and make sure it doesn´t burst into fire. in other words in mixing you put each instrument in it´s place in the frequency range and the stereo image and with the right volume and fix some stuff. in mastering you sand off the edges (i.e. loudness peaks) and make it really shine and smooth.

@marcellbarsony yes i do :) you have the guitar signal two times. one is going through your DAW and has distortion which is correct. the second is not going through your DAW and does not have distortion. you need to mute that signal in your windows sound options.

it´s all in the browser, on the right hand side of the main window. if it´s not there, there´s a 'browser' button on the very bottom right of the main window. in that browser you can switch between looking at the pool with all the recordings, the vst instruments, the vst effects and the sound library. you can just drag and drop the effect onto the channels in the mixer.

aw man. i wish you had covered comp for electric guitars as well. i am a prog player and not much djent. but this is helpful anyway

with the EQ in gearbox i just shape the tone some more and in the mixing i put total control on the guitars. as it turns out i mostly use the same eq settings. if you do it more excessively on the tone than you don´t actually need to mix too hard later on. the better the tone the less you need to mix.

@oriyus no, it´s the same tone on both channels. but actually if you tweak the tones for left and right a bit differently (not too much) you can get a bit more of a stereo feel. but i´m too lazy for that.

@marcellbarsony go to start - control panel - hardware and sound - sound - playback (you´ll find that in the upper toolbar) - speakers - levels - mute the line in. you can try that but i think you could also tell me what audio interface you use and how you set it up to record (i.e. via usb or line and so on).

you should choose impulses during your tone creation cause it´s a big part of your tone. i just did it all in one here cause i knew what i was going for.

the exact same way as in cubase or as i show in part 3, or at least that´s my method. put an impulse loader as insert effect, activate the monitor button on the channel and mute the direct signal.

it´s not because of the interface. you need to tweak with pod farm and the mix a little. i used the pod x3 live before, but now i use the pod hd pro.

i tried different chains out myself, having the EQ before the impulse and after the impulse and seeing how it has an effect on the tone. my conclusion - it doesn´t have any effect. impulses are kind of like EQ´s themselves so it´s like having two EQ´s in chain. it doesn´t matter witch one comes first and which last cause the values are just being added or subtracted.

Thanks for this mate. Good videos and you don't tell people to do stuff the way you do, just give the basic idea behind everything. Informative, thanks!
