I felt sorry for Mary, even though she was rude and dreadfully spoiled, it wasn't her own fault. Her unloving parents were to blame, they were too selfish with their own lives to give her any of the attention and support she needed.

I read the whole book aloud to my son at bedtimes when he was 8 years old. He cried the night it was finished. To those of you who don't understand the real meaning of the word "Gay" I'm sorry you now live in a world where language has become so impoverished. (look that up if you don't understand it) Time you all absorbed some classic literature.

yah, we know, it's a joke. A joke means "emusing or funny line that makes people laugh." in it's original meaning, and it's not twisted at all, a joke is a joke no meter what time or what part of the planet you live in.
