I couldn't agree more. Anything regarding home computers is a want. I agree with a lot of what you said about budgets and how much a person can or can't do with it. Regarding the budget, I also have to justify the cost as I don't use my computer like most folks. My computer is used for gaming and home theatre. I only need 6 cores for that, although I plan on upgrading soon. I can afford the top of the line, I just can't justify it for my use case.

I had a 7700x paired with a 4080 (I'm in Ghana, a 4090 is impossible to get). I couldn't play a youtube video on my secondary monitor while playing Uncharted 4 at 1440p without the video stuttering. Swapped the 7700x with a 7950x and its been smooth sailing ever since

I still using my 12100 with 6700xt and it still serves my needs perfectly

I used to have a 5600X then I upgraded to a 14700K and my computer feels a lot better with gaming and multitasking

I think the Queen song is appropriate.

"I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now!"

Now we know why he “needs” 64 GB of RAM 😂

You kinda speak to my situation, I'm running an I9 10900F (non K) with 32 gig of ram, an RTX 3080 driving a 144hz, 1440P widescreen monitor. Right now in BF2042, I average 105 FPS, with the GPU at 97% and the CPU at 57%. Not really a must upgrade situation for sure. I would love to just slap a K version in or I9 10850K in and the speed up over 5 ghz, but, if you can find one new, they cost well over $300. I don't trust used from some anonymous person.
I've been very tempted with Micro Centers 7800 X3D bundle deals for $469... I have recently come into a little extra money and upgrading for 500-700 would be great, but I just don't know if I would get anything from it. I guess there's always next generation...

Rocking an i7-14700k and liking the experience. Upgraded from an i5-8400 so you can imagine the difference.

This is probably why my system feels like I don't need an upgrade yet. Had my 5950x from launch and yeah, there are faster CPUs out, 5800x3d is the best gaming CPU I can get but pure gaming performance never appealed to me. I didn't build my pc for JUST games. It's my muti tasking do everything I want at once entertainment system :P

And this is the exact reason I'm going with the top zen 5 chip when they release.

More than 8 cores will age better. Consoles having 8 are why 8 is still the optimized minimum. Even consoles likely won't have 8 forever. More cores in CPU bound scenarios is a better experience (as well as IPC improvements). I noticed in raids it was more smooth, better fps, no stuttering. I'd rather have the 14900K than the 7800X3D long term. 14900K should age like fine wine.

My CPU has 16 cores. Helldivers 2 uses 9 of them. Good luck everybody else!

I remember someone trying to justify the 7800X 3D cpu as being better than a 14900k. You only have 8 cores, so doing background updates, downloading files and other tasks in the background will be a substantially different experiece on the Intel Chip. Those extra cores take a lot of the load off of the main cores. I don't even notice a stutter with a 12900K when doing those tasks, while I did notice it on my 10 core 10850K on my other PC.

Great videos guys loving watching yall :D I feel I may have fallen victim to the things you are describing now in terms of buying a 5800x3d, i had a 5600x paired with a 6800xt and play on my 4k 48ich LG c2, with more than comprehendable performace, and obviously my platform is about 3 years old and I'm gunna be using for maybe another 3 years which turning details a bit lower if needed but can play most titles between 70 and 140 fps which actually goes great with the screen refresh lol, I got the 5800x3d mainly for covering for 1% lows and get the best possible for the platform I'm on, which I thought would have hindered performance while playing things like bg3 and the witcher etc, is smoothness an argument at 4k with my level of gpu? Any feedback on this would be appreciated😂

Even if you don't have a second monitor you might still have things running in the background, when I'm playing RTS I usually have an YT video in PIP, over the game screen while I'm playing, when I'm playing turn-based RPGs such as Baldur's Gate 3 I will probably have a YT music video playing in the background plus all the about 10-15 tabs I usually have open. That's not to mention all the software that's running in the background of my PC like Discord, Plex server, Music server, Wallpaper Engine Anydesk, RGB software etc, etc all of that takes a bite out of my CPU time. And there will be people with torrent clients seeding in the background, or maybe they make money farming with bots in an MMORPG in the same computer they play AAA games, etc.
