Dunning-Kruger effect in martial arts stuff online is stronk. People will say basically everything doesn’t work if they haven’t seen the highest level people do it or haven’t done it themselves.

As a fairly experienced judoka (9 years experience) I won't say it doesn't work no gi at all, but I will say that no gi certainly shortens the variety of throws effective so it's like 50% harder but I never had any problems fighting and throwing unexperienced people in grappling bc everybody knows how to throw some kind of punch but not many how to deffend against a throw🤷‍♂️

Olympic Judo may not work so well without gi grips but Judo still works GREAT!

These two guys in the video just prove that Nogi judo does work. so what was the point? Judo has never been fully a martial art that relied on Gi anyway. When Jigiro Kano established judo, he made his younger students train no gi first before they learned gi throws. Because remember, judo comes from Jujutsu. And jujutsu never had gi throws back in the time it was used. It was a complete martial art. Strikes, grappling, wrestling and joint locks. Judo when it was first developed had all that. But thanks to the IJF, it got watered down heavily. But there are dojo’s all around the world that teach judo, however they want.

Never go to a BJJ school to learn throws. That's like getting sushi at McDonald's. Join a proper Judo dojo and learn the real thing!
