How lucky are we to be able to get a free consultation from a physician pretty much any time we want here on YouTube? Thank you for always doing a terrific job breaking it down for us Dr Dray.

Thank you for making videos like this. It feels way more credible than just a google search which will likely be full of ads and marketing tips. I was curious about how to help keep my immunity up. Haven't gotten a cold since 2017 so I must be doing something right... or I just have no life LOL.

Thank you for the clarity - this is one of those things that floats out there, but there is nothing definitive. I also like the fact that you addressed the danger of "over-boosting" the immune system.

Thank you so much for this! I wish everyone could see this before throwing away money on expensive supplements with disingenuous advertising.

Thank you for this video. I’m 57 years old. At age 26 I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. I took Imuran for some time without results. I still ended up with liver cirrhosis. I developed Sjögren’s syndrome and Raynaud’s. On top of that I got covid back in 12/20. I’m one of the lucky ones who was able to come out of the ventilator. I’m oxygen dependent and I still consider myself lucky. I did have survivor’s guilt for some time but that’s all behind me. I take supplements under my doctors care. Like vitamin D3 and magnesium citrate. For some reason I’m always deficient without them. I try to maintain healthy habits. I have aged well despite of my poor health. My huge problem is the bags under my eyes. I sleep upright and they’re still there. Maybe it’s my dry eyes from Sjögren’s. I moisturize and apply Cerve tinted sunscreen. With my glasses on I hope no one notices. If you have any tips please let me know.

As someone with an autoimmune disorder and allergies, it infuriates me when people say they need to “boost” their immune system. My response to them is, “My immune system is overactive and attacks itself. Trust me, you don’t want a “boosted” immune system. It’s not what it’s cracked up to be.”

Thank you Dr Dray for using your platform for educating us and busting these health myths. I think one basic tip for maintaining good health is prioritizing dental hygiene and getting those dental checkups. Many health insurers and plans like Medicaid subsidize checkups, bec they know that dental problems can lead to many other health complications and so much more expense $$$ in the long run; we have the means to prevent much of that with simply flossing, brushing and a checkup every 6 mos.

As a 27-year old with primary immunodeficiency, autoimmune autonomic neuropathy, and Sjögren’s, I always laugh at these “boost your immune system” marketing claims. I’m on IVIG (immunoglobulin replacement) and it does reduce the amount of infections I get (and help with my autoimmune autonomic neuropathy) but it really inflames me acutely. I need to be on it, though, so IVIG coupled with a healthy lifestyle (esp lots of exercise) really helps me live well with my chronic illness. I don’t think most people would willingly go on IVIG if they didn’t have a medical condition that warranted it, just to ~boost their immune systems~ 😬

You have branched off into very important topics recently excellent job with that! The health of the human gut represents almost 80% of the immune system very important and doesn’t get the attention it should! Have a nice week great post today!! ☕️💪🏻⭐️

Boosting the immune system is not to damage it! So don't smoke, don't drink alcohol, don't take drugs, don't eat processed food, do sport, subject yourself to sunlight, go to the sauna, have social connections, sleep regularly enough hours, reduce your stress. That is boosting the immune systems.

I'm so glad you posted this! Thank you!!

I have auto immune disease and I am always so wary about things that boost immune system!

I was told by neurologist to be careful of immune boosting. They can really hurt you if you have autoimmune diseases.

When you talked about micronutrient deficiency in the elderly/processed food eaters I was tickled.
I got a hysterectomy at 26 due to cancer and have since developed such deficiencies but since starting hormone therapy and supplements am feeling MUCH BETTER.
Oddly though I don't eat processed foods almost ever and eat a wide variety of foods

Wish more people would listen to you and their doctors. Too many are overdosing on vitamins. They don’t realize the problems they can have

Dr. Dray! thank you for making it clear for everyone! Still, the best thing that we should do is to manage stress, eat healthy and exercise to maintain good health.. 😊
