The Ohio State Buckeyes rested starting quarterback CJ Stroud against the Akron Zips. Freshman Kyle McCord stepped in to put up 319 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air in the air as Buckeyes rout the Zips 59-7.

Dunno what people are seeing about McCord, but it was his receivers making the plays. The sweeps and the screen passes yielding large gains were all on the receivers.

McCord was also underthrowing or throwing behind his receivers constantly. Not really a huge knock on him considering this is his first game, but that's how the interception happened, and that's why the receivers had to slow down and makes the catches, such as at 3:57.

Sure it's nice to have an easy win, but we don't beat Bama with today's McCord. We also don't beat them with Stroud.

Day's decision to bench Stroud came at a very good time, rather sooner than later. McCord is the real deal.

Glad they won won't put to much stock I to this game. A lot of passing yards came on chunk plays with a lot of YAC. McCord did his job. The difference in this game from the others is the defense showed up so there weren't any must win snaps. Don't be surprised if Stroud starts again when he's healthy.

I’m just glad they gave McCord the start….stroud was overthrowing simple 5 yard routes on a regular basis and it killed so many key drives the last 2 weeks. McCord seems a lot more accurate
