Yes, I always recommend that when learning speed acceleration, you start with really SLOW spin diabolos. the faster the diabolo is spinning, the harder it is to control.

Also, have a look at the quality of your string - newer/slippery string may be a little easier than old/dirty string with too much grip

I swear I messed up this trick in every way possible, but I finally got it! Some how I'm more concentrated on my right hand than my left. My worst problem was that I was wrapping the right diabolo instead of just kind of dropping it into the pattern. Thanks for the tutorial!

Great stuff! Well, if the string is wrapping up the diabolo then that's another skill to work on. Do you do speed whips? another skills and one of the first things I'd recommend you learn would be a back-wrap to help speed up the diabolo (also it's possible to do correction this way by wrapping > giving speed > tapping the cup to correct.

I'm learning to do speed whips; I do a wrap start. My problem is getting it into a back wrap when it has speed and is in the shuffle. But I will work on it. I also need to work on correcting the far cup to turn right. I always turn way too much to the left.

I just figured out how to do one speed whip without it tangling, and it already has increased my speed by a lot. My string is pretty old, but I try to use the string for as long as possible.

I think I've got it now. For some reason, whenever I wrap the right diabolo and try to hold it/speed it up, (unless it's going really slow) the diabolo binds. It doesn't matter if it's a front or back wrap.
