The railroad thing is ridiculous. It is kind of like putting air in a leaking tire, but not fixing it... It will get you further down the road, but when it goes flat again, it might be in a worse time or place. Why not fix the tire right away. It might cost a little time or money, or both. But you are more safe and the ultimate cost will be less.
