Visiting ghost town in the middle of Amazon jungle (Fordlândia)

After some dirty and bumpy cycling I managed to reach the town of Fordlândia . I was told that no journey across the Amazon region can be complete without visiting this odd location, hence I decided to make a little rant about it. Hopefully some of you will find this interesting.

Cool to see your take on fordlandia and this part of the Amazon. When I went to Santarem I was considering going there but it didn't seem worth the massive detour, and based on how you describe the road there I'm happy I didn't try :P

Pará is the state that lead the Amazon deforestation. And 90% of it is due to cattle farming. Itaituba is a growing city mostly because of the gold mining.

I wish you lucky. You're gonna need it for the next step of long unpavement roads and jungle. Hope you drop by into good people and not hungry animals in the way.

The Fordlandia project failed, but the cows breeds were brought from India many years ago, adapted well to the local natural conditions
