Thanks for this discussion! I just got back to USA from Ireland. The place was wonderful, but I found the lack of a top sheet baffling and completely vexing. I woke up in the night drenched in sweat, with no options to moderate temperature- only too HOT, or ice cold.
Next time, I'll definitely bring my own.

In my country it's hot in summer so I use a cotton flat sheet. In winter I'll use two flannelette flat sheets.

Duvets and down comforters are so uncomfortable and hot! I switched to wool blankets and my sleep has improved so much over the last few years!

Yuck, can't imagine staying in a hotel that doesn't use flat sheets. You know the duvet covers won't get changed between each guest.
