Thanks to the carrier promotions here in the US, I was able to snag an iPhone 14 Pro 256GB for just $300! It finally arrived, so I figured I'd make an unboxing/first impressions video.

These trade-in offers in USA are crazy good. Not only are iPhones the cheapest there (I know the price doesn't contain tax, but even with it they are cheaper than in western Europe), but you get these trade ins. I don't often envy the US, but this is one of the cases :D Anyway, enjoy your new phone.

As for the eSIM problem on US models:

My mom just got an iPhone 14 Pro Max for her family in Vietnam, and according to Apple, all three carriers in Vietnam (Vinaphone, Viettel, and Mobifone) support eSIMs. I have even seen many sites sell temporary data-only eSIMs for Vietnam. Prices vary by provider, but Vietnam-Visa has the best prices (15 USD/12 GB data/30 days) from my research. My mom also got an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and she is enjoying it compared to her previous iPhone (iPhone SE 2)

As of iOS 16.1 Beta, all other iPhone models (including the 11) can now display the battery percentage. Not sure why they weren't included in the initial iOS 16 release, but it's coming in 16.1.

I managed to find that offer you found and... damn, it's way too good of a deal. I gave them my Pixel 4a, a phone that I paid $350 for over a year ago, and they indeed gave me $800 credit for it. It almost feels like I'm scamming them, but they willingly agreed to it!

IIRC, the reaosn 4K ProRes is disabled on the 128GB model is not only because of storage capacity, but because of storage speed (larger storage = more NAND chips, which means faster read & write speeds since the SoC/NAND controller can write to them in parallel).

The iPhone 14 Pro, for the first time, has made me consider upgrading my iPhone 7 because of the Dynamic Island. I still won't switch because I want the home button and a no-notch screen. If my current phone breaks, I'll get the iPhone SE.

4:10: When you think about it, it's actually _less_ helpful to the environment because buying the charger cord/box separately means more packaging (and thus, more waste) than if it was just included by default. Just some food for thought.

Upgraded my 7 plus and got the same 800 trade in. For old phones its a no brainer

It seems like every other year (even numbered iPhones) there are insane trade-in values. In 2020 I went from XS Max, to 12 Pro Max for $500 ($750 trade-in) and this year went from 12 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max for $200 before tax ($1000 trade-in)… I usually have crazy buyers remorse, just because its so easy when buying tech, but when the returns are this high, its so easy to just unbox and enjoy.

Whoa, what an insane trade-in value. Just checked what's offered in my country, and an iPhone 11 would get you $200-300 in store credit, 11 Pro would double this amount, and Pro 'Max' would add an additional $40-50. So, like $650, if you really stretch the conversion rate. Base iPhone 14 is $1100 and base 14 'Pro' is $1350. Not much of a deal.

Brother I did the same thing. Traded in my purple 11 and got the Deep Purple 14 Pro 255GB on AT&T. And yes they do give $800 so it is essentially $300. Hoping they’ll do a free 14 for 14 Plus with no trade-in.

iOS 16.1 will be adding the battery percentage in the status on iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, and another iPhone, but I was excited at first, but I read articles and it might make it to those phones in iOS 16.1 expected in (Probably) October like iPadOS 16
