I have a F-Pace 2017 from new, had service contract with JLR, so always been looked after by them. Always thought that it was a bit 'tapperty' on start up but told normal, had a Nox Sensor replaced by different JLR dealer, they said 'engine noise needs investigation, took in in this week, had a phone call and told it needs a New Engine (covered under extended warranty) is this normal to need a whole new engine? Car has 42, 000 on the clock that is all. I would recommend paying for the Extended Warranty if you can.

Do the issues stay with new generation of engines from 2020 that are supported by mild-hybrid electromotor? Esp.the chain related issues?

I've read quite a few comments related to 2.0 diesel engine failure in jaguar xf (2015-2020). Apparently, this engine often fails completely quickly, which ends in costly repairs. I have a few questions.

1. Do I understand correctly that if I pay enough attention to the sound from the engine, it will react earlier and it will not end up with an expensive repair (as you say in the video)?
2. is it better to give up thinking about buying this car because engine problems are too risky?
3. Does the Jaguar 2.0 petrol engine also have these problems?

It pisses me off that modern engines are so shite. No manufacturer is immune to it either. They are all bad.
