Friends, our Gospel for today is St. Luke’s version of the Lord’s Prayer, the Our Father. This prayer, which is probably recited millions of times a day all over the world, includes some of the best-known words on the planet. But what do they mean? It might be good for us to walk slowly through Luke’s version to see what this great prayer is about—and what we are asking for when we pray it.

I spent over 2 months in the hospital receiving multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant and then over a year quarantined in my home, and this prayer brought me great comfort. It taught me to completely surrender to God's will, knowing how much he loves us. At diagnosis I was give 2 months to live, at most. That was almost 7 years ago. Even with treatment, my odds of surviving were about 20%. Today I'm cancer-free. God is so very Good.

I’m listening again a year later. Since my first comment I’ve officially become a Catholic, lost my earthly father, and become a daily pray-er of rosaries and novenas. Well, almost daily. I’m also donating to several Catholic charities, although I’m praying for an improvement in my own prospects so I can contribute more. May thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The our father is the grieving up our free will and asking God to take over in all areas of life!! Over our lives & over our country!!

It took 48 years to hear that the "daily bread" is not simply my daily resources. Supersubstantial bread really is a mouthful!

When I see and hear your videos I am dumbfounded. Maybe only the Venerable Bishop Fulton John Sheen comes close - Why is this holy man not a Cardinal already?? Truly... You have torn down the scales from mine eyes! God bless you, Bishop Barron! Keep teaching us what we need to enter the kingdom of heaven 🙏

Thank you Bishop, for your teaching and encouragement in these confusing days . I am a new Catholic convert and will admit the struggle is real as I navigate the Church, the division and the Pope ... rather mind boggling 😢. Our Priests and Bishops who are holding the line and teaching the truth of the Catholic Church .. you are treasures to the sheep . God bless you . ❤

This talk on the Lord’s prayer was great! A grace that came to me about the lords prayer is when we say forgive Me my trespasses as I forgive those who trespass against Me. It did not say I need to forgive myself. For years I had regretted how I treated my wife before she died. I could not forgive myself but one time Bishop Brennan of the Columbus diocese gave a homily and said” The lords prayer doesn’t say you need to forgive yourself it says you need to forgive others and God forgives you” I was enlightened by the Holy Spirit because I realized I was forgiven! I presented this to Bishop Brennan and he took it with him when he went to New York to be the new bishop there. I also was approached by another man who was his wife and he felt the same way.

Bishop Barron, you are an inspiration, a truly awesome speaker, well educated and so very interesting. God bless you for taking time to post so many of these beautiful videos to help us all to better- understand God’s word, His prayers just as you’ve explained here, The Lord’s Prayer and so on. You are the epitome of a “man of the cloth” whom I remember Priests, Bishops used to be growing up in a Roman Catholic home. Many Priests, Bishops, Cardinals have fallen away from grace, from the church. It’s sad! YOU are a true disciple of God. I respect and appreciate you and how wonderfully you convey the meaning of God’s word without deviation from the truth and the “good” that our Holy Father, Our God is all about that which is LOVE. My words pale in comparison to the praise you deserve but understand that I salute you as an AWESOME Bishop! I nominate you as our next Pope. He will be gone soon so let us elect You as our next Holy Father Pontificate on earth. Never allow anyone to corrupt you or persuade you from following Our Lord. God bless you and keep you safe. 🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻 Respectfully, Donna
