This image mosaic reveals a slew of small jets of material exiting from the Sun's outer atmosphere. The photos were taken by the ESA/NASA Solar Orbiter spacecraft. In this mosaic, they appear as black streaks over the solar surface. The photographs are 'negatives,' which means that while the jets appear black, they are actually brilliant flashes against the solar surface. Each jet lasts 20 to 100 seconds and expels charged particles known as plasma at speeds of up to 100 km/s. These occurrences may represent the long-sought-after source of'solar wind,' the continual outpouring of charged particles from the Sun that travels across the Solar System.

Yes, jets . Jest of heat and light that combust and shoot off thousands of feet into the air. Obviously, you didn't learn much in science.
