OMG! I’m a newbie to the Home Theater game. I followed your guidance and switched everything to small and the sub to large and what a huge difference in sound quality! Even sounds like the system is working more efficiently. Got good results from the atmos speakers. Now I just have to calibrate the entire system. Thanks!!

I agree with you about setting the speakers to small, however I also set up my speakers as large for 2 channel playback only, both music and also old movies sound much better

So true my friend, and such a great revisit on a very important pro tip👍 This is one of the most important features in AVR’s. In this case, small is big😁👏✌️

Jim Holtz "statements" are tuned to 24hertz, they just sound better when set to large.

I have a 7.1 Surround Pioneer VSX AVR powering a variety of different Klipsch Speakers and a powered Klipsch 12'' Subwoofer hooked up too. Normally while watching my tv shows I don't have any issues with it but when I pop my John Wick Chapter 4 Movie in the Blu-Ray Player and try to watch it as soon as the Gunshots start flying at any point in the movie the Pioneer AVR shuts itself off. Also whenever there is music playing with a deep Bass beat it also shuts off. It's like the Receiver can't handle Bass or something. I want my movies to be able to sound like I'm in a movie theater and I like Bass a lot so what is most likely to cause this Pioneer to keep shutting off like that every time Bass sound comes on at higher volumes? I should note that I even turned the Bass on Subwoofer way down to barely audible in hopes it would stop this from happening but it still happens. It's only a 120 watt Amp. Is it just not powerful enough to handle high volumes with that many speakers? I can't even get through to the end of the movie cause it keeps shutting off and it's starting to piss me off. If it doesn't stop doing this I'm gonna take it outside and use it as target practice with my 9mm lol. ☠📀📺🔊🎶🎛☠

My front speakers 🔊 can play down to 24hz . I tried the small settings, it takes away some deep amazing base. Jim holtz "Statements"
