Density is the measure of the mass per unit volume for any substance.
To calculate the density of a substance you divide the mass of the substance by it’s volume.

The formula linking density, mass, and volume is:

density = mass ÷ volume

Rearranged for mass, the formula is:
mass = density x volume

The unit for mass is kg (or g)
The unit for volume is m3 (or cm3)
The unit for density is m3/kg (or g/cm3)
