Chicago had car-less communities over 50 years ago. It was called CHA high-rise public housing. Caprini Greens was one.

I remember my grandmother in Mississippi used to always garden, and grow her own vegetables and fruit. I was playing on the big propane tank that gas the home. Also, there was a water well not too far. Basically, that's independence. I experienced a taste of that. Having acres of land with different ponds.

Allegiant stadium, 1.8 billion dollar facility, they shut down the Mandalay bridge for what? So you can walk to it.

The new A's baseball stadium will have only 2, 500 parking spaces, the majority of people will what, walk to it!

I get people flying in for these events and ask. Can you take me and pick me up! It's just another private ride opportunity.

I'm not against car-less or car-lite neighborhoods. As long as there's viable alternative modes of transportation, that's what matters. The Dutch have high car usage despite having an elaborate bike network. Having a 15-minute city, as in being able to meet your daily needs within 15 minutes via walking, helps people go about their day without having to use a car. The better the reliability and availability of alternative modes of transportation, the less cheap people and the less riff raff we get into our cars. Another benefit of having a 15-minute city or at the least better walkability and having viable alternate modes of transportation is that it helps keep the money within the community. Making majority of the city car centric keeps people from being able to keep the money within the community as it's unsafe to go around without car. Having a more pedestrian friendly places helps customers get immersed within their community in turn helps circulate the local economy. Having a car centric design tends to bring more reliance on outsiders from outside the community. I'm not against having outsiders stimulate the economy. It's when it city becomes too dependent on having outsiders that the local economy crumbles when the outsiders stop coming.

Yes I advocate for 15 minute city or at least a city with better infrastructure for all modes of transportation. I'm not against people driving further for different things. I'm not for banning cars outright. If people want to drive, that's okay. Having a car shouldn't be mandatory to live. I'm for being able to make it easier for others to choose to be able to get things done without having to drive.
