I appreciate the logic presented here but for me it differs from my felt experience. I can say that after a 26 year relationship, with children involved, that whatever meaning I derived from my life disappeared when my husband walked out and the family unit was broken. This remains the case even after the passing of a few years.
Your words of “if they don’t want to be with you they shouldn’t be with you” are sobering, hard to understand in the context of marriage, but worth repeating. Personally I’m not sure one does ever get over it in the “this too shall pass” sense, but rather as you say maybe a place of acceptance is arrived at, though this can also be an empty place. A sad reality is that people do die of broken hearts, grief induced illnesses etc.

It’s really sad, deep sadness but am learning to live in it and to move towards the positive emotions I want to experience. You are right it’s thé letting go that is difficult. But it must be done otherwise it’s constants carousel back and forth and no moving on
