I was left behind once at a stop and my belongings stayed on the train. The staff delivered them to my final destination of Chicago. They arrived the same day.I would have arrived. ' What to do if you are left behind' would be a good topic for a future video and would be a useful topic for your followers.

I go to Las Vegas every year, leave on SWC#3 to Los Angeles union station. At union station l take Flyaway shuttle to Lax airport. 20 minute flight to Vegas. Coming back same way catch Swc#3 to Chicago. A little bit more money, but l enjoyed this way of going to Las Vegas.

I took Amtrak from Kansas City to Aberdeen, Maryland on the 22nd. Both the SW Chief and the Capital Limited were on time. I booked the NER out of DC to Aberdeen on the train since there are so many and just in case the train was late. I took the NER to NYC, then the Lakeshore Limited to Chicago and back to KC via the Chief. Every single train was either early on only delayed by 15 minute. The trip was amazing. I had a Viewliner I on the Lakeshore. I loved the room and being able to sleep up top and still have sitting room. Had a great attendant, Mitchell. Loved it! I do this every year. I do plan for same day out of Chicago and so far, so good. It was foggy on the way home. It was hard to see the Hudson at all, but the trip was relaxing and nice. Had a bedroom to DC and it was loud since I was right behind the engines, but got out earplugs and it was fine.

I was researching a route going to Las Vegas and I believe you can get off the Southwest Chief in Kingsman Arizona and catch an Amtrak charter van on to Las Vegas but I think you get off around midnight and arrive into Las Vegas around 3:00 a.m.

Coming from the East, you get off in Oxnard, California and take a bus from there and that is during daytime hours.

Pacific Surfliner is running between Los Angeles and San Diego with a bus "bridge" between Irvine and Oceanside. Enjoy your videos! We did the full Texas Eagle route at Thanksgiving. Awesome trip!

As far as going from Philadelphia to Las Vegas check out the Cardinal to Chicago and then connect to the southwest chief to Kingman AZ, then catch a bus to Vegas. I will be doing this from DC in late July.

When is the best time of year to travel on the California Zephyr?

Happy New Year!! I've always enjoyed watching your posts. Amtrak offered many routes during the '80's through the mid '90's. There were transcontinental cars taking passengers from L.A. to N.Y or L.A. to Orlando without transfers. There was an overnight train between Kansas City & New Orleans. The CA Zephyr had 2 other connecting trains between Seattle or L.A. with the Seattle Train (The Pioneer) which offered a 2700 mile journey to Chicago, & the Desert Wind from L.A. with a stop in Las Vegas NV en route to Salt Lake City where the 3 trains would meet & become one. Amtrak eventually eliminated these routes, & started promoting Metropolitan Lounges in larger cities. I really miss the old days when meals for sleeper car passengers were not complimentary. Don't get me wrong, their meals are delicious, but I'm not accustomed to eating 3 meals/day & must force feed in order to get the full value of the sleeper car accommodation charge. Accommodation charges for sleepers were much cheaper before meals became complimentary in the early '90's. I can eat out of a can, but overall, a train ride is what I enjoy the most. I'm hoping Amtrak doesn't fragment their long distance routes with bus connections between points which would be a deal breaker for me.

How my hometown of Vegas doesn't have Amtrak is astounding! I think we used to back in the 80s but I was a little kid so I could be wrong.

Great tips guys! We are planning some Amtrak trips for the next few years. We are going to check out the 2 brand new Brightline stations in south Florida that just opened up in the next few weeks. Love your channel and hope to cross paths with you two someday.

Missed your live show but heard the question about late trains and hotel reservations. We were six (6) hours late into New York on the Silver Star. I stayed in constant contact with the hotel via the Marriott BonVoy app. My room was waiting for us when we finally arrived.
