This happens with some screens when there is a constantly flashing image on one area. It will stimulate the pixels weirdly and create some image retention (not burn in). I’ve had it happen numerous times and it almost always goes away before an hour. It’s not really anything to worry about.

It did it to two of my consoles, but rather than showing the full car, it just made that part of the screen blurry. Now this was on both a Normal and a Lite Switch but I haven’t had any issues with the OLED Model yet so take from that what you will.

Huh. Good thing I haven’t played it yet.

I think it’s because the back of the car barely changes when you move

This happened to me but it was on my monitor in docked mode. I had to swap hdmis to get it to go away

Good thing I don't play the game in handheld mode.

It’s because the hovercraft is in one position on the screen for the huge majority of the time. Any screen type that is sensitive to burn in is potentially vulnerable. Maybe it would help if they made it move when turning corners or even up and down in certain situations.

Hey Around The Clock, how many people have personally told you about the screen burning in not just handheld mode, but also in TV mode as well? I ask this because I will most likely play F-Zero 99 on the go or whenever I am away from home. Thankyou for this extremely important warning: this will save a lot of people time and trouble.

I think that is weird, but at least the blue falcon is always with me if it happens to me.

Been playing it since launch and never experienced that issue.

Is it weird that I kinda find it cool to have an fzero car ingrained on my screen, and this makes me want to play it more?

I wonder if this problem can be prevented by lowering the screen's brightnes in handheld mode.

Are these only happening on OLED models? For those who may not know, as nice as OLED is, there is a thing called Image Retention or "Screen Burn-In". It happens because each Pixel of an oled screen is it's own light source and if it displays a bright, static image for an extended period, that image will burn in to the screen. Since the Nintendo OLED is the worst oled on the market, this doesn't surprise me.

The car is not in a static position. How did it burn into the screen?

Sonic Origins caused a similar issue for my switch lite, specifically Sonic 3 & Knuckles. If i stayed on the level select screen for too long, the Chaos Emeralds/ Super Emeralds woudl be burned into my screen for a while. It did go away after a bit, though. i think it was due to the fact that the sprite of the Emeralds was rapidly flashing.

Its probably because of the sprite moving up and down at high speeds

was planning on getting fzero 99 soon but may just wait until this is fixed even though i play my switch mostly docked

can you get rid of the Blue falcon from the screen burn by putting the console to sleep?

why has there been so many warnings and security measures and bugs for the switch lately?
