I did love Richard Beckinsale, it was such a shock when he died so young. It’s a shame that his other daughter’s name was left off the plaque. Thanks for going back to find it though.

Shocking early loss of Mr Beckinsale in March 1979...such a good actor in Porridge and Rising Damp, sad thing is he had a premonition of having a heart attack. RIP Richard.

Rip Richard, such a talented actor and lovely guy.
He would be so so proud of Kate now! And just think they could’ve done some acting together if he was still here … that would’ve been phenomenally to see … such a young age 😢my uncle died same age from a massive heart attack
Thanks Paul xx

Richard Beckinsale was brilliant in Porridge and Rising Damp. He wasn’t overweight and didn’t look unwell when I saw him on telly, so I can’t understand how he died from a heart attack in his sleep, unless he had a heart defect or perhaps it was caused by overworking and stress. Who knows, but it must of been frightening to suddenly die alone in his sleep, especially if he was experiencing pain. But I’d like to think he died peacefully in his sleep, completely unaware his heart stopped beating, while still dreaming. 💤

Good actor he was fortunate enough to be on this is your life at a very young age in 1977 thankfully had fulfilled all his life dreams and had a lovely family who miss him dearly, it’s so sad that he was taken from us all too soon.thank god you finally found his plaque Paul.

I think he was one of my early "awareness's" of death. I was an avid Porridge fan at the time and although the series had ended by then, it brought home there was no going back.
Sad that he was effectively estranged from his daughter Sam and thus perhaps understandable why she is not even mentioned on the plaque. Also a fascinating study of "fame" considering Sam bowed out of the limelight and left London's Burning because of the intrusion it brought her, and although she has acted off on on since then she says she wanted a personal life. In contrast, Kate courted it for anything it could bring her. Richard B may have been a promising actor taken far too early, but it is a great shame his 2 children are so impacted by his divorce to this day.

Great video Paul, Richard Beckinsale was taken, far too young. My favourite programme with Richard was: Porridge, with the late greats Ronnie Barker and Fulton McKay, absolute classic. He was a talented guy, who should have gone onto a long and successful career, in my opinion mainly on television and like the late great John Thaw. He was married twice and left two very beautiful and talented daughters: Samantha and Kate. May he R.I.P 🙏

Well done Paul! A good bit of detective work there….we’ll have to start calling you ‘Sherlock’! 😂 Glad you found Richard’s plaque in the end. As has been said both by you and many of your followers, a great actor and taken far too soon. When we lose actors and entertainers so young we can’t help wondering how their careers would have progressed had they lived. Very sad and yet he is immortalised in ‘Porridge’ and ‘Going Straight’. Keep ‘em coming!

I love his poetry. I found the book in a second hand book shop. I am a big fan of Porridge and I have watched Bloomers online. I cannot find this one on dvd yet.
