How do you get it in starting position?

Getting them separated is the "easy" part, putting them back... not so easy. I can only do it sometimes, but when it happens, I cannot remember exactly what I did.

I got mine in a cheap set of metal puzzles. It was definitely assembled wrong because I can’t even get the puzzle to the starting position. No matter which way I turn the pieces the loops won’t unlock.

I legit figured it out in 2 seconds by just moving it around a lot and now I can't figure out how to do it again.

I been trying for 2 hours to get it back together and I just threw it away

I don't if I have bent some parts. Should the ring be in line when you look from vertical side? I don't know if I used too much force at the beginning and now it seem easy to make them come apart. It doesn't feel fair now that I solve it if the parts are bent.
