I noticed Hoop on Whole Latte Love site while shopping for a grinder. Thanks for the review and hope that you will give some details on grind size in future videos. Liked and already subscribed from your Moka Pot videos. :)

Regarding water flow inconsistency, I've noticed that too and I always pour in a circular manner; I also do some kind of (cold 45 degrees) bloom by doing a first pour directly in the center ring via a gabi master B, I think that's better than blooming through the outer ring, the coffee bed gets saturated more uniformly and it looks less susceptible to uneven agitation by the subsequent second pour from the outer ring.

I have the Hoop and it’s a great little brewer. Simply add grinds and pour water. No need for stirring, etc.

I'm pretty sure that middle part is called the "thingy".

Maybe you are willing to review the Stanley Classic Perfect-Brew Pour Over? Same principle as the Hoop but without the paper filter. I use it for camping and am curious what you think of it.

Thanks for this video. I saw this on Whole Latte Love and was tempted to buy one but the reviews were mostly negative. I think you potentially identified what may have caused some of the issues in the reviews. I'll be interested to see your follow up videos. Thanks again !

How about hoop as a camping solution? How is the coffee compared to an aeropress go for example?

I have a problem with this brewer: I always have an unpleasant dry/dusty mouthfeel and aftertaste with this brewer. So normally that means you need to grind coarser and use lower temperatures. I‘ve adjusted the grind coarser so that 210g of water drain in 2:30 and the coffee tastes too weak, but the unpleasant mouthfeel is still there. Should I increase the dose/shorten the brew ratio and still grind coarser?

I will not buy one because I really like to be active in the coffee brewing process. I tend to stick to pour overs. For the same reason I almost never make French press coffee. And because I don’t think french press goes particularly well with the sorts of coffee beans I like.

Great video, Matteo! What is the max amount of coffee you can brew with this method? Usually i'm brewing for me and my wife 500ml outcome and I suggest the hoop is partially working as V60 (you can add water on demand). Is it possible to fit 30g of coffee in cylinder/cone? And another question for you to suggest: I do have V60 and Aeropress and consider to by either Hoop or Kalita Wave. Which one you suggest to choose to have the biggest difference between V60 and Aeropress?

'Cylinder' is definitely a better name. It isn't a cone!

Maybe I missed it, but what's the temperature of the coffee after you've just finished brewing?

So M, if you could only have 1 brewer whats your FAV ?? And be honest 😁

Nice idea, but pity that it needs a paper filter. Otherwise would have been great for camping.

I have to disagree. I could never get it to brew decent coffee.

Geometrically that is definitely a cylinder and not a cone

Too much faffing and vriables for what should be a simple process, I will stick with my Hario switch.
