I like it. Just gotta remember that at the end of the day that its a Prius and your buying it for the mpg. Its not a race car or high end luxery car.

The Prime models have no room to store a spare tire. However, the non-Prime versions do have a dedicated space for a fifth wheel assembly. Toyota can furnish a spare tire "kit" for around $1, 300 CAD and, it includes a jack, lug wrench, rim/tire (that are full size), a modified set of foam inserts to accept a wheel, and, a steel protective plate to cover an electric junction found in the wheel well. There's even a fixed, threaded nut to screw down a hold-down bolt for the wheel. Why Toyota does not include a spare for the non-Prime appears to be strictly an after sale cash grab.

With the Prime version, there's simply nowhere to store a spare. Under the floor of the hatch there's the large 13.6kw battery where a wheel well would be. Our solution is to buy a set of four winter tires with rims. If we need to leave the "safety" of our urban setting for a road trip we'll just throw in one of those in the hatch and motor on. We have a jack and all the other tools we need to change-out a flat.


The car is fantastic. Our 2024 Prime is just shy of nine months old and has 12, 800km (8, 000 miles), on the OD. We are currently using our only fourth tank of gas. The SE model (ours), is rated for 44 miles (70.4km), of EV only range. But during the past summer we always got closer to 62.5 miles (100km), on battery only. Now that the temperatures are dropping the range is diminishing some but is still enough for day to day use.

We figure our cost to run on only battery is 1/4 of what driving in hybrid mode would be.

I have a 2018 Chevy Volt with leather seats which cost 19k, this is a good looking car but for the price of 44k, they should have leather seats

I bought new one battry read 20 mile at 80% charge it should be 44 at 100% !

I like these new prius but I cant get over the interior. The cluster is an absolute cluster, and the wheel looks like something out of a fleet vehicle. The hybrid civic looks a lot nicer to be in. Thanks for the walkthrough.
