There are a lot of qualified people of quality out there that would make great Correctional Officers but many never apply because they don't feel they have the skills to do the job. Well, let me convince you that you might.

Can you communicate with people?
Are you a good team member?
Can you multitask?
Are you a good, decent, hardworking individual?

If yes, then you should take a look at this recession proof, pandemic proof position.

Hey brother. Still giving high quality advice man. I'm now finished with my 1st of 6 weeks at the academy. I want to let you know like before your videos really have helped me prepare for all of this. It's made life easier for me and my wife's relationship as well as the relationship with my kids. There's alot goes on behind the walls that I've seen in the first month that could have very easily made me want to run away, but knowing the duty I have not only to the other staff and public as well as the inmates makes it worth it. Your truly a blessing bro. Keep up the good content. You've definitely helped me take pride in my job. I can't say that enough.

I worked in this line of work for two years before I let it get in my head and I stepped out for about a year. During that time, I really discovered that all I want to do is work in corrections, that I really did enjoy the job more than I didn't, and that some of the officers I worked with were the best teammates that I ever could have asked for. So now I'm putting the uniform back on. Some nerves for sure, but a lot of excitement to be getting back in to a career I enjoy and find to be fulfilling!

Knowing yourself and your value and have confidence. Inmates go out their way to make CO’s feel small and insignificant as a way of intimidating us. Also, they’ll do their best to get you to reconsider your decisions if you have no confidence in your judgment. Be safe. I would also like to pass on that we lost a young CO recently to suicide up here in Ontario. If anyone is feeling suicidal reach out to someone you trust or go to the emergency room. Please don’t let your bad experiences keep you from making good ones.

I just began my training as a corrections officer. It has been quite interesting. I have spoken with officers who've worked at various sites and on different shifts, learning about perspective. Looking forward to going to academy in June. This is a good field and we really do need people who want to serve the community and help others to be the best they can be.

You can have all them qualities but sadly in the end, this job really ain't for everyone. If someone is new to the job, they should really hope for the best (stay in the job) but prepare for the worst(have to quit or get fired). It is what you make it but sometimes it's just too much mental fuckery for some to handle

Great video man. I would love to see a video on correctional fatigue and another one possibly for “how to” great senior staff/supervisors/leadership.

I started being a CO almost a year ago and I’ve really liked your content… has anyone ever told you that you sound like Facebones from Metalocalypse?

Just graduated from the academy last Wednesday. Been on different units since Monday. So far it’s been a wild ride! I think I’d rather work in Seg than gen pop. I was running a gen pop pod today and got my first work induced headache 😂

I became a CO and the two most disturbing things I've seen so far is a lady in R&O cutt her self with a razor blade all because she didn't want to be there. Second is a guy black out fall and hit his head the back of the head was bleeding we put on on a gurney and lifted him out of the section we were told he got admitted to the hospital and most likely wasn't going to make it, that really stuck with me.
